LACMA

This summer is about checking out local spots for inspiration. Finding inspiration for designs for American Edge Clothing can come from many places...ideas can come from different places. It's about being inspired by life, the beauty of nature, music and of course art.

Bulldogs..and more Bulldogs!

On February 28, 2010 The Marketplace in Long Beach, CA turned into Land of the Bulldogs.
The annual Bulldog Beauty Pageant is what it's actually called. Hundreds of English Bulldogs, French Bulldogs and Pugs were all representing that day. Some were in the funniest costumes, we even spotted a cutie wearing nail polish! We decided to bring our son (and official American Edge Mascot!) Quentin, our French bulldog, to check it out. Being barely 4 months old, it was tough because he was so excited to see so many other dogs. We hope to enter Quentin next year. Until then, he'll have to wait and only dream about wearing the crown...or is it a tiara?

American Edge Photo Shoot

On Saturday, January 30th, 2010 American Edge visited D.M. Gremlin Studios in Long Beach, CA for a photo shoot. This was our first time there and we found it to be a great, versatile studio. You definitely get more "bang for your buck" with all the different backgrounds and props available. Thanks to Wendy for letting us use her space! Special thanks to photographer Rengie Mendoza. We appreciate your professionalism and we hope we can work together again on future projects.

Overall, everyone had a great vibe and the shoot was a lot of fun!

DON'T HATE!

The design process is a continuous flow of creative ideas and sometimes you do not know where that process will take you. This idea is years in the making for American Edge Clothing and although it is very simple and probably some would think not very original, it was a design that took the most courage for me to print. I was afraid that people just would not get it!  That people would think "Don't hate?! People hardly use that term now!" I usually let people interpret my designs the way they want but for this one I have to explain....I mean "Don't Hate" in the most literal sense possible! The world and life in general would be better if people simply did not hate. Call me a hippie or whatever, but no one can deny the truth in that statement. The pictures show the main image I used for inspiration, the line drawing and the final product...

Aspiring Artist Alexia Adonis

This brief interview was done with 16 year old Alexia Adonis from Carson, CA. This is hopefully the first of many interviews/messages I hope to post that will highlight independent artists. American Edge Clothing supports all creative endeavors. If you or anyone you know who would be interested in sharing their thoughts, please send us pictures and info to: americanedge@gmail.com.

AEC: How long have you been playing guitar?
AA: I've been playing for about two years now. In the beginning, my first choice was to learn acoustic guitar but my teacher was an expert on rock music so he convinced me to start playing rock with an electric guitar which soon was more interesting to me than playing acoustic.

AEC: What do you enjoy about it the most?
AA: Well I always like a good challenge when I'm playing. I like to challenge myself if I can play a good song I hear on the radio or something. Learning to play guitar was always a dream of mine ever since I was younger so it's great to actually say that I've fulfilled my dream. I also just simply enjoy playing great music with other people.

AEC: Do you write your own songs?
AA: I've written a few songs for the past year or so. Its been kind of difficult for me to finish some of the songs that I've started because it takes a lot of emotions and feelings to really make a song sound great and have good lyrics.

AEC: What kind of music inspires you?
AA: I enjoy listening to modern rock but my favorite would have to be the old school rock. I practically grew up with Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin.
